Role of a PRO (Producer Responsibility Organisation)

ARF & DRS: Govt-Backed Financial Mechanisms
- Advance Recycling Fee (ARF): Producers may collect ARF at the point of sale to fund logistics, collection, and recycling.
- Deposit Refund Scheme (DRS): Proposed in upcoming amendments, DRS enables refundable deposits to encourage consumers to return used electronics.
Draft amendments by the Government of India will enforce:
- Mandatory product take-back
- Collection targets based on market share
- Use of only authorized dismantlers/recyclers
